Your Guernsey Holiday Questions and Answers
Q: I’m looking for a hotel with a wheelchair accessible room and a wheelchair accessible shower?
Having spoken to Visit Guernsey there appears to be very few hotels that might suit your requirements. Four hotels have ground floor rooms and wheelchair access to the bathrooms, but none appear to have wheelchair accessible showers:
- St Pierre Park Hotel
- La Villette Hotel
- Les Rocquettes Hotel
- Peninsula Hotel
Q: High quality self catering accommodation for 3 adults (2 bedroom) in st Peter Port for Sept 2012 for one week?
A: All the 5 star self catering establishments in Guernsey are situated outside St Peter Port in either coastal or rural locations. There are several 4 star establishments, both situated on the outskirts of St Peter Port:
- Albany Apartments
- Clubhouse at La Collinette
Q: Is metal detecting allowed on Guernsey?
A: Yes to the best of our knowledge but not on private land.
Q: Hi, I’m looking for accommodation for a week in early August (flexible exactly when) for one adult and 3 children (4, 13 and 15) in one room with a swimming pool.
A: Our in-house system is not returning any availability for what is in fact 3 adults + 1 child (2 of the children are over 11 so would be classed as adults) as we do not have family rooms on Freesale. L’Eree certainly fits your requirements, especially if you are looking for budget accommodation. Peninsula & Saints Bay may also be available. They are both 3 star.
Q: Do I need a passport to fly from the UK to Guernsey?
A: A passport is ideal but any form of photo ID is generally accepted by the airlines. For full details we would suggest you see airline websites: www.aurigny.com and www.flybe.com
Airlines which fly to Guernsey are listed on our flights to Guernsey page.
Q: Are there any hotels with Conferences facilities for 150 people?
A: Hotels for this that come to mind are Duke of Richmond, St. Pierre Park, Old Government House Hotel and the Peninsula Hotel, although none could accommodate 150 adults so they’d have to stay in a few hotels and get transport to their meetings. The Leisure Centre, Beau Sejour could also take meetings for this number of people and does so very often.
Q: The last few visits we have had to Guernsey we have stayed at the St Martin’s Hotel. This is purely because of easy parking and having two dogs with us. I was wondering if you could maybe suggest hotels or other accommodation which has good parking and would accept a couple of friendly pooches. We are planning for about late May/June this year if that helps?
A: The nearest hotel would be Green Acres Hotel and according to Guernsey Tourism they do take dogs by arrangement
Q: Strange request I know, but I don’t know where else to start. It’s been in our family history that our grandparents owned a house in St Peters Port, but lost it when the Germans invaded. Could you please furnish me details of what dept. etc. I could contact for any info? Also could you please furnish an email address so I can send you a screen-shot of my belated parents in St Peter Port to see if you could ID it for my records. I would guess the date of the photo when you get it, to be approx 1935…….many thanks.

Q: Hi, we have a small campervan based on a ford transit can we bring it to Jersey or any other Channel Islands in June 2011 and is there suitable campsites to stay on?
A: You will need to contact the camp sites direct. There are 3 in Jersey & 3 in Guernsey:
Jersey
- Rozel Camping Park
- Beuvelande Camp site
- Bleu Soleil
Guernsey
- Fauxquets Valley
- La Bailloterie
- Vaugrat
Q: I would like to know, if I can come with my campervan to Guernsey and where I’ll can find for it a camping place.
A: Regrettably, Guernsey does not permit mobile homes into the island so you would either need to bring your own camping equipment or the campsites can provide all you need as an alternative.
Q: I would wonder you would be so kind as to send me the address and telephone number for The Crows Nest Restaurant in St Peter Port?
A: The Crow’s Nest is part of the Ship and Crown pub in St. Peter Port, Guernsey and the telephone number there is 01481 721368. (A very popular place to work and/or drink/eat !!)
